The Corona virus begins to weaken with the advent of summer and Audi goes on the offensive. On April 22, 2020, the company decided to introduce via electronic media the second generation of its sedan under the edition 2021 Audi A3. In conclusion, sale begins in late April and early May and the first deliveries are planned in the summer. For now, we have one gasoline and one diesel engine, but soon we expect a mild hybrid and one weaker gasoline which should have a price of 27,700 euros. That’s about 2,000 euros cheaper than current gasoline.
The design is based on the A3 Sportback which brings improvements in the air resistance coefficient of 0.04 or the new number is 0.25. Better aerodynamics are the result of the new MQB Evo mechanical platform. It brings a magnification of 40 mm in length, 20 mm in width and 10 mm in height. In style, we see a lot of similarities to the already mentioned A3 Sportback hatchback.
Dimensions 2nd generation:
- Legth: 4,500 mm
- Width: 1,820 mm
- Height: 1,430 mm
- Wheelbase: 2.637 mm
2021 Audi A3 Interior
Audi says the seat is lower than in the first generation and offers 20 mm more headroom in the front seats. The interior shares a lot of details with the A3 Sportback. First of all, we think of the same digital cockpit with a 10.25-inch digital dashboard and a 10.1-inch display from the multimedia system at the top of the center console. The only luggage left is 425 liters as before.
2021 Audi A3 Engine
The second generation starts with one gasoline and one diesel option. The gasoline line represent a turbocharged 1.5 L 35 TFSI engine with 150 horses. Somewhat later, a lower gasoline is expected, which will reduce the price, but we do not yet know what engine it is. For this option you have the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed S Tronic automatic. Although not confirmed here, there will certainly be a hybrid variant paired with a 48 volt battery later or sooner.
When it comes to diesel engines their representative is the 2.0 L TDI engine with only 150 horses. There is no manual gearbox for this option, only 7-speed S Tronic automatic.
