The Korean manufacturer has set out to make a big update on the upcoming 2021 Kia Niro. We will see some changes from the outside and the inside but here the focus is on the hybrid. The reason is, of course, the increase in sales of hybrid and electronic models by more than 20%. If we only talk about Niro model then growth is over 30%.
Crossover exterior gets cosmetic changes in the form of diamond mask cooler. Daytime running lights come in the form of two arrows, with new headlights and fog lights. The side view offers new 16 inches and 18 inches wheels. A rear view reveals the hi-tech look of the rear LED lights with a wider and more prominent chassis.
2021 Kia Niro Interior
The cabin first features a new 8-inch screen and optional navigation at 10.25 inches. The dashboard gets a new graphic, which gives a new image of the bullets. But all of this retains such a familiar company interface. Finally we have to mention premium Harman/Kardon audio system.
2021 Kia Niro Hybrid Options
The hybrid combination will be made of Gasoline Direct Injection engine and AC Synchronous Permanent Magnet Motor. GDI engine is 1.6 L 4-cylinder with 104 horses at 5,700 rpm and 109 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm. Electric motor provide 60 horses at 1,800-2,500 rpm and 125 lb-ft at 1,800 rpm. At the new Niro hybrid’s core is a powerful lithium-ion polymer battery that’s both light and compact.
Hybrid’s high-capacity battery system recharges in approximately 2.5 hours with a 240 V power outlet. Using a standard 120 V household electrical outlet system recharges in less than 9 hours. Dual-clutch 6 speed automatic with Sportmatic is responsible for transmitting power.
Release Date and Price
Kia Motors has announced that the first units in showrooms will arrive during spring 2020. The price of the hybrid model will be around $ 28,500.
