Upcoming 2021 Renault Megane comes as part of a fourth generation in refreshed design. The changes are extremely small and we can call them classic facelift. The only difference is the appearance of the hybrid option under label 2021 Renault Megane E-Tech.
This model has been on the asphalt for over a quarter of a century and has sold over 7 million units in that time. The refreshment of the current generation is coming at the right time because the C segment has several new models. Above all I mean the main competitors Seat Leon, Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia. Sales begin in the summer of 2020.
Facelift, Design, New Colors
First of all there will be three new colors available: Solar Copper, Baltic Grey and Highland Grey. The alloy wheels are slightly restyled and come in sizes 16 and 18 inches. We see small design changes on the front grille and the front bumper. We must emphasize the presence of LED technology in lighting. It is one of the basic equipment and improves night vision by 30%.
2021 Renault Megane Interior
Changes to the cabin include the slightly modified center console design and air conditioning controls. The center console features a 9.3-inches multimedia display. While the digitized dashboard has a 10.2-inches screen in expensive packages.
2021 Renault Megane E-Tech Hybrid
The hybrid version is a combination electric motors and 1.6 L 4-cylinder gasoline with total output of 160 horses. The battery has a capacity of 9.8 kWh which is enough for 50 km, although tests in the city show 65 km as well. The maximum speed is limited to 135 km/h.
Diesel and Petrol
In addition to the hybrid powertrain, gasoline engines will be on offer. We are talking about 1.3 L TCe engine with output of 115, 140 and 160 horses. In this edition the novelty should be 1.0 L TCe with 120 horses. The diesel line include 1.5 L Blue dCi with 95 and 115 horses. Regardless of the type of fuel, the transmission is done by either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic.
The strongest versions will be 2021 Renault Megane RS with 300 horses and 420 N/m of torque. This model shows an increase of 20 horses and 30 N/m of torque. This is only possible with EDC dual clutch automatic, while selecting manual transmission mean ”just” 400 N/m of torque.
Release Date and Price
There will probably be no special promotions. This year’s edition arrives in showrooms in the summer of 2020 with similar price.
